How to Plan a Beautiful Wedding on a Low Budget

You’ve just got engaged, and now you’ve all the exciting wedding planning ahead of you. Most young couples don’t have heaps of money to throw around when it comes to creating the perfect wedding, so good planning and money management is essential. However, just because you’re on a budget doesn’t mean that you have to start making sacrifices for your wedding day. You can have the beautiful wedding that you’ve always dreamed of without having to break the bank.

Get creative

This is one of the ways that you can save a huge amount of money if you’re on a low budget. Take a trip to your local craft store and buy some plain invitations, along with some wedding embellishments and assorted stickers. You can then make your own wedding invitations for a fraction of the cost. Remember to make a list of the people you’re going to invite before going out and buying the invitations. By doing this, you won’t buy more invitations that you really need. Use other items When thinking about how to decorate the tables at your wedding reception, there’s no need to go for an extravagant display on each table. Although this might not seem very costly at first, the money will soon add up when you realize how many guests will be there and how many tables you need. A small and simple flower display or wedding-themed candle will be just as beautiful and won’t take a chunk out of your budget.

Go shabby chic

If you like the shabby chic and/or retro feel, there are lots of things you can do to save some cash here and there. You can decorate and design your wedding using recycled items and cheap accessories, and it will look absolutely gorgeous without the expensive price tag. For example, fill empty jam jars with tea lights and candles and place them around the tables and the church hall. Create your own bunting for the reception hall by using old curtains or scraps of material. You can even make your own confetti using newspaper, scrap paper and magazines.

Forget the limo

An expensive car, complete with bows, ribbons and chauffeur, can seem like the perfect way to make an entrance, but the car is seen very little and really isn’t worth the price when you’re on a low budget. Instead, ask a friend with a nice car to decorate it and let you use it for the day. You may even know somebody from a local farm who could escort you to your wedding with a horse and cart, so it definitely pays to ask around! Even if you want to pay them a small fee, it will only be a fraction of what the big companies charge.

Cheat with the wedding cake

Wedding cakes are so expensive because bakers and cake decorators know that people will pay whatever it takes to get their perfect wedding. However, you can buy plain white cakes at most supermarkets or wholesalers. All you need to do then is decorate the cake, either by doing it yourself or paying somebody to add some text, swirls and accessories. Nobody will know the difference!
